To ensure total personal privacy of employees' fingerprint database, Fingerprint templates can now be stored on a Smart Card (in comparison to storing an algorithm in the terminal). With Smart Cards, the biometric fingerprint template is stored on the card's internal memory only. The scanned fingerprint is compared with the template stored within the card. This solution not only eliminates employees' privacy concerns, but it also allows for an unlimited number of users per terminal.
SME Smart cards use Mifare® 13.53 MHz technology by Philips, offering quick communication and enabling encrypted reading and writing. Standard readers based on this technology use ISO 14443 protocols between the reader and the terminal. The cards are forge-proof and durable, with a lifespan of approximately 10 years.
